Walkabout: Theater on your Feet
Join this event, which in it’s first year sold out!

“Take a walk on the dramatic side…”  

 
WalkaboutThe Elgin Cultural Arts Commission invites you to take a walk. Downtown. In Elgin. To see and hear some exciting theatre, art and music in the most unlikely places. 
 
Take a tour of downtown Elgin and see short plays in Elgin’s most popular places, performed by Vex Theatre, Janus Theatre, Nothing Special Productions, Independent Players, A Tower of Strength Players, Envision Theatre and GreenRoom Productions.
 
When you’re done with Walkabout: Theater on your Feet, stay for the Art & Soul on the Fox art show (August 1) and the Alley of Art show (August 8,15,22) at Du Page Court next to Al’s Cafe, where artists will display and sell their art, all to the sounds of live music.  Free parking and free water are provided. Tickets are $14 (cash only at the door)

Third Annual Fox Fire Fest   July 27th, 2009

 

 

Third Annual Fox Fire Fest
 ~ Volunteers are still needed to help at the Fest with the following, but not limited to:
Ø  Assisting with kids games and crafts
Ø  Assisting with crowd control
Ø  Assisting with refuse collection
 
Below is a list of days and times that volunteers are needed:
Bands, Children Activities, Art, Theatre, Etc.
Fox Fire Fest

8/1 – 11am – 3:30pm / 3 – 7:30pm / 7 – 11:30pm
8/2 – 11am – 2:30pm / 2 – 5:30pm / 5 – 8:30pm

Enjoy music with Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Verve Pipe, and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. FINANCES | Encourage youngsters to earn money, save for things they really want

But 20 percent of couples have never spoken with their kids ages 4-18 about handling money responsibly, says a new survey by TrueCredit.

More than 31,500 Kane County residents were counted as out of work in June as the county’s seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate climbed to 11.5 percent from 10.9 percent in May. In June 2008, the rate stood at just 6.6 percent.

The project to add a left-turn lane at Wing and State Streets in Elgin has caused plenty of traffic back ups this year.

It will probably cause more headaches now that Wing is closed at the railroad crossing for the next two months.

The 2009 Elgin Restaurant and Bar Crawl will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 25. Starting off in DuPage Court, this annual event is being hosted by Sin for Charity and Sands Events. The two organizations have joined together to raise funds to help support a larger event in August that will benefit Little Angels of Elgin. Cost for the Bar Crawl is $10 per person.
