The Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin invites individuals, families, organizations, and businesses to sign up to decorate a window or organize an activity for downtown Elgin’s 11th annual Window Wonderland event. Daylong activities and judging of windows will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.
Bison Blessing part of event celebrating American Indians October 1st, 2009
Saturday, Oct. 3, will be Native American Day at the Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd., Elgin. The day will include an appearance by Sal “Red Hawk” Camacho, Elder Joseph Standing Bear, and a dance demonstration by Shawndra Campbell and her daughters Adobe and Aiyana Lockwood.

Description: Get rid of your old electronics in an environmentally responsible way! Elgin\’s South West Area Neighbors (SWAN) Environmental Committee is partnering with PC Rebuilders and Recyclers to provide an opportunity for you to discard your old unwanted computer equipment. The donation & drop off will be on Saturday September 19th. Stop by the Zion Lutheran Church (330 Griswold St. Elgin, IL 60123), between 8 AM and 11AM and you\’ll be able to get rid of unwanted computer equipment and a few brands of TVs (Sony, LG, Goldstar and Zenith) for no charge. Any and all laptop, desktop computer, and related peripherals are accepted for donations. Our primary goal is to reuse as much of the equipment collected as possible. If an individual piece of equipment in not suitable for reuse we will try to harvest parts for reuse or finally we will send the equipment off for material recovery. We have adopted the Responsible Recycling (R2) best management practices that are being promoted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as our standards for processing materials that we receive from collection events.
